Motor Underwriting Agencies (Pty) Ltd (MUA) started operating in 1988 as a underwriting managing agent for Fedsure General.  Shareholding was split between Fedsure, Hannover Re (4th largest Re-insurer in the world) and management. At the time it was the first specialist-underwriting agency for the motor insurance market and only one of three managing agents in existence.
